I can dig that nickname B-)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't "HadoKenny" simplify the pronunciation tangle that the BOIZZZ encountered trying to work out "ShoryuKenny?" :-)
DeleteI dunno, hadokenny doesn't have the same buzz as ShoryuKenny but I'll leave it up to the boiz
DeleteThe promised fist pump....delivered! Thanks for playing one of my tracks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, CVIV was a great game for demonstrating for recent upgradees from the 8-bit just what 16-bit could do. New worlds were opening up before us.
As for stage 4-2, where this track comes from, you had a then mind blowing, and even today still impressive mode x (mode 7?) cylindrical thing going on in the background. Also, while the drums in this track are kinda mashed potatoes, the rest of the voices are really nice, particularly the bass, and particularly the intro. Cap it all off at the end with a mode x rock monster boss that gets smaller as you hit him.
Very impressive moment in gaming! Behold, the new frontier!
Anyway, thanks again BOIZZZ! :-)

I was hoping for more words regarding Spinning Tower from Super Castlevania IV. I love that track.
ReplyDeleteBishoujyo means beautiful young girl(s).
I knew you were going there about Zangief!
ReplyDeleteYou're probably thinking of TOMITA. He did a lot of synthesized classical albums in the 70's. They also used one of his pieces for the astronomy TV series "Star Hustler".
ReplyDeleteA nickname of a screen name? What an ridiculous concept... But I dig it! I'm down with da Beach BOIZZ! I also would've accepted "Ganbare goemonsama" or "Ganbare Golf BOImonsama." =P
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, there was a preview image of Wreck-it-Ralph released earlier in development where Dr. Wily WAS included among the villains. Apparently he was cut from the film by the time the trailer was made for some reason.
One more thing: I dunno if this is worth mentioning, but I just discovered this site with a bunch of arcade game rips in vgm format. Here it is: http://vgm.mdscene.net I know LMH has in the past played music from some arcade games, so it might be a useful resource. If not, I thought it was cool, anyway. :)
Hey Brent,
ReplyDeleteYou may have been thinking of Wendy (Wayne) Carlos' "Switched on Bach", which features Moog renditions of well-known Bach pieces, when you were talking about Rob's Wings of War track. Carlos, of course, was also responsible for the Clockwork Orange Soundtrack.
First time commenter, looong time listener. My favourite podcast.
nice work
ReplyDeleteRecently listened to this one again. So many jams. That al Unser track is the best. The mpls sports station I listen to in the morning plays that ice hockey track in the background when they read news for the Minnesota Wild.
ReplyDeleteWow! Have not heard Ice Hockey or Super Spike Vball in years. Thanks for refreshing great childhood memories. I liked those tracks as a youngster but listening to them now gives me a greater appreciation for them. I never realized how funky some of those Vball tracks are. Greg
