  1. Another great episode of The Legacy Music Shower boizz, but I can't wait for Brent to return and lay down the law with the legalities... I don't trust this B'ront fella siding with Rob F'switcheroo on the MegaCD decision to take things B'yont 16 Bit in 2019 ;)

Thank you for using "thank you for using"! And get better soon Brent, hope you beat it soon!

  2. New episode? Now I can't wait for work tmrw!

  3. Here's my thoughts about allowing CD games, and why I think you should (sort of)...

Obviously the main theory behind this show is that the 8 and 16 bit era music was composed a certain way which was influenced greatly by the technical restrictions presented by the hardware. Once you get into the Playstation era you start seeing generic movie score style soundtracks.

The thing is, *SOME* CD games had soundtracks that were composed very much in the style of the 3rd & 4th gen games.

For example, Dracula X Rondo of Blood on the PC Engine CD was excellent and still composed similar to the other games in the Castlevania series. Same with Castlevania Symphony of the Night for PS1. Sonic CD on Sega CD was also very much still in line with the genesis games. In fact, I'd wager that a lot of Sega CD games weren't even red book audio (CD audio), but were using the Genesis hardware like any cartridge based game.

I think that CD games should be allowed, but it would require responsibly choosing tracks that fall in line with the spirit of the show. Generic orchestral scores would not cut it, but melodic "video game" music would be great.

Anyway, love the show! Hope you're feeling better Brent, and I hope Gabe escaped the Virus!

  4. That's a nice episode right there

  5. Great episode! Falsion is full of awesome tracks. My suggestion was actually "Careful With the Walls!!/Level 4", but they're all very good!

  6. How about a Beyond 16 Bit from this generation of games influenced by old games. Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, Celeste,Rogue Legacy etc

  7. Agreeing with Brent that the original Cave Story / Doukutsu Monogatari is the way to go. More was changed than just the music in Cave Story+. The original is a 50hz game by design, while Cave Story+ is 60 frames per second, speeding up the gameplay by a whopping 20% from Daisuke Amaya's original vision!! The retranslated script isn't quite as charming either in my opinion.

  8. I played trumpet in 5th grade but hated it... because I had to practice 30 minutes at home everday, when I could have been beating things instead! Okay yeah, many years later I'd like to pickup an instrument again perhaps, someday. But I have no regrets, I was able to beat a lot with the less homework I received.

    B'ront's a cool dude.
