Free Play episodes are always special, but Episode 80 stands out among them due to an extra bit of historical significance: it appears to be the recording that birthed and solidified the now-canonical pronunciation of "boizz." Can YOU remember the time before we were all saying that word this way? Because I can't.

Episode 206: Halloween (Live)
Recorded in September, Episode 206 was conducted live at the Bit Bar in Salem, Massachusetts, a town known for witches and Halloween related stuff. And very organically, witches, Frankenstein, werewolves, clowns, and other monsters came up in conversation, not really because of being in Salem or October coming up the month after, but mostly related to talking about the music. This wasn’t meant to be a Halloween episode, but it just accidentally worked out that way. Also, treats (prizes) were given out to raffle ticket winners, and Rob and Brent even received some treats theirselves. Plus, a couple VGM karaoke performances. Thanks to Max Clark and Bit Bar Salem for making it all happen. Note: You can click the photo to see it bigger. Full track listing

Hey, what's that buried at the bottom of your trick-or-treating pillowcase? No, it's not a copy of Time Lord -- it's another Legacy Music Hour mixtape! And while Halloween is all about celebrating the spiritual beyond, there's definitely something fitting about using the holiday to celebrate the musical beyond, too. So, enjoy this collection of tracks from the spiritual realm past the 16-bit era as supplied by Brent, Rob, and two special guests: Tetris Attack master Pablo Bert and video game music cover artist Stedman Wilson.

LMH Mixtape #73: Jazz Music 2
All right, look. KeyGlyph here. I've been trying to compose a measured introduction to this mixtape for the usual Legacy Music Hour blog post, and I'm officially giving up. Jazz Music 2 is just too darn good. It's dreamy, it's busy, it's romantic, it's introspective; it'll conjure up images of bustling cities one moment and lonely hotel lounges the next. I can't quite put it into words, but there's some real magic going on in this one. So please, let this VGM genre tour whisk you away to a place where piano is king, everyone knows the Fox Trot, and life seems to glitter just a tiny bit more than you're used to.

Episode 202: TurboGrafx-16 3
Yet another TurboGrafx-16 focus, although it’s mostly all PC Engine tracks this time. In this episode, the boizz get cross-wibed, the boizz talk cereal, and Brent shares some special food recipes of his own creation. NOTE: Rob played the wrong track for Mahjong Gakuen, which was just a variation loop of the beginning of his intended track. He had become so sleepy by that point that he didn’t notice it wasn’t the track in its entirety. The full track was added later, which is why the full track doesn’t play while the boizz are talking over it. Full track

Episode 201: TurboGrafx-16 2
The boizz do another focus on TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine music (and SuperGrafx too). Rob also has pretty bad allergies, so watch out for that. The boizz really have a lot of fun with Tiger Road, so watch out for that too. Ha ha ha ha ha!! Full track

Episode 200: Episode 200! (Live)
Brent and Rob celebrate the 200th episode of The Legacy Music Hour with a live recording in Los Angeles. Lots of fun and laughs and hijinks take place during this momentous occasion with a handful of guest commentators, a healthy amount of audience participation, a few in-person video game music related performances, and even some actual video game playing. Bad boizz, birth-talk, and baseball -this episode is jammed packed with action and good video game music from the third and fourth generation. Thank you to all who have supported the podcast over the last seven and a half years. Note: Just like Episode 100 and 150, the photo is missing some people, because it wasn’t taken immediately after the show was over and they had already left. Full track

Episode 199: Mmm Poppin'
More shirt popping happens on Episode 199 which leads into a conversation the boys have about a slang phrase Brent often uses out in public. Rob also shows off his new look, which you can only see in the episode photo. Gabe, Rob, and Brent get into a bit of a debate about whether Sega CD should be legal on the Legacy Music Hour. Brent and Gabe also talk about how much they love the Ganbare Goemon series on SNES/SFC. Full track

Live Recording: Episode 200
To honor the 200th episode of The Legacy Music Hour, Brent and Rob are inviting users and anyone else interested to attend the recording. This is just like a normal episode where Brent and Rob pick some tracks and comment on them, except there will be some extra microphones so that anyone who’s there can chime in and comment as well. Previous LMH guests will also make appearances. So think of this as a sort of video game music listening party or like a regular episode but with a lot more guests than usual.
The 200th episode recording will take place at 4pm on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Dynasty Typewriter at the Hayworth in Los Angeles, CA. It'll take about two hours to record. If you live in the area, feel free to come and bring who ever you like, as long as they won't be bored by people listening and talking about video game music.

Episode 198: Shirt Popping
Rob pops his shirt a lot during this episode, which is something you can’t hear, but should be aware of while listening to the music. Perhaps the tracks are so hot, he had to pop his shirt to sort of fan his self down. Brent talks a little bit about something that was initially discussed on Episode 9, way back in 2010, which finally comes to fruition in 2018, and also relates to a different sort of “shirt popping.” A couple VGM Karaokes are heard on this episode as well, and Gabe and Trevor get to open a package from Keyglyph. Also, it seems as though Excentric from American Idol makes something of an appearance during one of the tracks. Full track

Episode 197: Friends
While Rob is in France, Brent (and Gabe and Trevor) is joined by friends Andrew Michaan and Mike Fischer. In this episode, Brent plays a decent amount of music from games he’s been playing lately, Andrew intentionally uses corny phrases to express positivity, and more information is shared as the Green Lantern saga continues. But mainly, they all just focus on the music and joke around a bit. Full track

Episode 196: Beyond 16-Bit 3
Brent’s brothers join in for Rob and Brent’s third-time focus on video game music from the fifth generation and beyond. Rob does play a significant amount of Game Boy Color games, however, while each of Brent’s selections are from a different console -overall, the episode ends up sounding more retro than one would expect. NOTE: When Rob mentions Tamayo Kawamoto, Brent would have immediately recognized her name from the work she did on games like Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Legendary Wings, but due to a technical error with the audio feed, Brent didn’t hear everything Rob said. Full track
