Episode 110: Free Play 11

It's another free play situation on The Legacy Music Hour!  NOTE: If you want to participate in the "poll" situation, just email legacymusichour [at] gmail [dot] com with "Episode 110 Poll" in the subject line and list, not in any particular order, your THREE top tracks, contrary to what Brent and Rob say on the recording (they say to only list one track, but they later figured they could tally up the listeners' top three tracks as long as they're not ranked.  That is, you can rank them if you want, but it won't have any bearing on the results.)  Also, don't forget to consider the closing track played.  NOTE 2: In the photo, they're trying to do a wave.  Full track listing below.

Episode 108: TV Shows

TV Shows is the topic of Episode 108.  More specifically, television shows that are not cartoons, since LMH already did a cartoon focus not too long ago.  Now, while this episode focuses on music from video games based on TV shows, Brent and Rob focus their banter almost entirely on Full House, even though there is no Full House video game.  And it wasn't even something they planned, it just happened like that.  Full House.  They also talk about celebrities and lots of other things.  NOTE: Rob plays a track from the Airwolf video game for NES, without realizing that it's the actual theme song from the TV show.  Brent doesn't realize it either, even though it's so obvious and they both should have recognized it immediately.  Anyway, non-video game music adaptations are not allowed on the show, but it was too late, the episode was already recorded.  So save the emails and comments!  They get it.  Full (House) track listing below.

In this episode, Brent and Rob focus on video game music tracks which are absolutely no longer than 15 seconds.  Ironically, this ends up being one of the Legacy Music Hour's longest episodes.  Brent and Rob are also joined by an unannounced and unexpected guest.  A very big and flighty guest, in fact.  A wide variety of consoles are covered, consoles including the Sega Master System, Game Gear, and TurboGrafx-16.  And finally, there seems to be a strong theme of nostalgia in this episode which is discussed and heard throughout the music.  A long, nostalgic journey through a wonderful selection of "micro songs".  Full track listing below.

Live Recording: Episode 100

To honor the 100th episode of The Legacy Music Hour, Brent and Rob are inviting the listeners and anyone else interested to sit in on the recording.  This is just like a normal free play episode where Brent and Rob pick some tracks and comment on them, except there will be some extra microphones so that anyone who attends can chime in and comment as well.  Previous LMH guests will also make appearances.  So think of this as a sort of listening party or like a regular episode but with a lot more guests than usual.

The recording will take place at noon on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Nerdist@Meltdown in Los Angeles, CA.  It'll take about two hours to record.  If you live in the area, feel free to come and bring who ever you like, as long as they won't be bored by people listening and talking about video game music.

Episode 87: Norio Hanzawa

The work of composer Norio Hanzawa is the focus of Episode 87.  Originally a Konami employ, Norio moved on to work for the company Treasure.  With an extremely progressive and unique approach, Hanzawa took video game music to a whole other level with games like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier.  Check out this incredible music from a very overlooked composer.  NOTE (2018): It was recently discovered within the VGM community (six years after this post) that Norio is his real name and that his alias might have been Ichio instead of Kazuo (this episode was originally titled "Kazuo Hanzawa").  Because of the uncertainty of his alias, this post/track listing has been modified to remove instances of the name Kazuo, yet the podcast recording remains unaltered (with frequent reference to "Kazuo").  Full track listing below.
