Episode 227: Youthful Hair

This episode seems to focus a lot on hair.  Brent hasn’t had a haircut since February or March, and because of his longer hair, Rob thinks he looks young, but it’s really because of the lighting, mister.  Gabe’s hair is long too.  Rob and Brent talk a little bit about some past memories, and they also sing the Perfect Strangers theme song at one point as well as Come Undone by Duran Duran.  Enjoy the show, mister!  Full track listing below.

  2. Apologies for the long post... Bucky O'Hair. Hairwolf. Gabecube is looking like he could be a member of Misfits.
I occasionally played GB with earbuds in public places where people might get annoyed. I remember them being cheap and uncomfortable.
Rad Gravity track reminds me of Aphex Twin or Squarepusher.
Mighty Final Fight and Ranger X are both great games I feel are underrated. Mighty Final Fight suffered the fate of many good games that are released toward the end of a console's lifespan and go unrecognized. MFF might be my favorite game in the series. Due to Yuko Takehara's work on MFF and Mega Man 6 they both have similar sounding music. I can't remember if I rented Ranger X, or played it on a store kiosk, but if memory serves correct I had a hard time playing it with a 3 button controller. Even though it was hard to play, I thought the game control was really unique in that it gave you the feeling you were controlling a giant mech. Years later I found out to properly play the game you need a 6 button controller. Searching Ranger X 5 or 6 years ago is how I randomly discovered LMH.
I thought it was pronounced "Doyers." Speaking of small CA towns my car broke down and I was stranded for a day in Wasco. Another great ep!

This is also the same song as the Puyo Puyo / Mean Bean Machine track

    1. It was all figured out during the track list compiling. The Puyo Puyo version is different, so Mean Bean was what was listed with the Sakoda as the composer and the others as arrangers.

  4. Loved the episode, especially the Perfect Strangers riff. How long you reckon until we can hear a beyond 16 bit composer focus on Gabe's work?

    2. Absolutely! There's a track on his soundcloud called Construction Time that's particularly bonk.

    1. I bet it was unused because it sounds like Capcom's UN Squadron for the SNES

  7. I'm pretty sure the Curse song was reminding Brent of Aquarius from Castlevania 3.

  8. FYI, Alemania, and Alemanians is another word for Germany and Germans in many languages, including Spanish and Persian (Farsi) languages.

If I recall, even germans refer to themselves as Alemania some times?

  9. I got two words for you: SuperR-TypeBlastRock and KingArthur'sWorldFunkyGoblin (now in Dolby Surround Sound)! How have the entire soundtracks of these two games not featured on this show in the last 10 years (that I can tell)?

  10. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - Toshiaki Sakoda, Masanobu Tsukamoto (arr.), Masayuki Nagao (arr.) - Unused (Brave) - Compile - Genesis - 1993

This track was probably unused because it sounds like one of the songs from Capcom's UN Squadron for the SNES.

  12. There are two videos of people doing the title theme from Rad Gravity: one is a straight cover, and the other is a Shnabubula piano interpretation, and George Sanger has commented on both of them in a way that seems to indicate he composed it. Have you looked into that?

    1. The credits do say David Warhol, but that comment on the Shnabubula video raises questions. Contacting George Sanger now...
