Pinata as it is could never be a competitive sport because of the unique nature of the person controlling the pinata. This person has both an adversarial and cooperative relationship with the "player" as they move the pinata in and out of range of the player. The nature of their choice in movement is based on social factors like how to make everyone laugh, and how to make the birthday boy look good.

It's too bad Keyglyph is no longer making the mix tapes, but good for her on her new job.
