Beyond 16-Bit 8, that's a bit of a confusing title, no? Anyway, you know how it is. Every now and then, the Legacy Music Hour does an episode that features video game music from BEYOND the fourth generation of video games. And yet, like other beyond focuses, this episode ends up sounding pretty retro. Rob gets serious at one point about a subject near and dear to him, by the way, speaking of bygone eras, so brace yourself for that. And, well, have fun listening to some of this "modern" music, and actually, some of these tracks really are from brand new games that came out this year, so there probably shouldn't be quotation marks there. Sylphia blew my mind,
ReplyDeleteGreat episode! The pain of hearing about the despairing state of SF2 competition was offset by the joy of my fresh haircut. Cant wait to drop in next time I'm in Port Town!
ReplyDeleteHave listened to the Baldr Force track a half-dozen times since the episode dropped. Especially this morning when it's raining outside, and the coffee is good...
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the Pebble Beach tracks, Sylphia, and the Nanashi no Game selections in particular.
Akira Yamaoka ? the Silent Hill guy ? : o
ReplyDeleteWell Brent, stop being a whiny bitch and f---ing play Phantasy Star. It won't make you lose a limb or anything. At least, do it for the memory of the creator Rieko Kodama, who recently passed away and was one of the pioneer female game designers.
ReplyDeleteThat Lovely Planet track was fire!
