Episode 66: Racing Games 2

Brent and Rob take their second lap on the topic of Racing Games.  This time, they make a conscious effort to not play anything from Super Mario Kart, Road Rash, and F-Zero, and instead, explore lesser known games such as Final Lap Twin, Al Unser J.   1. I've noticed I'm moving in the opposite direction from Brent. In the early days of LMH I was into Genesis music. Now the more I hear, the less I like it. It's as if all the songs sound like they're covered in gasoline or like they're made of aluminum foil or something, if that makes sense. Sure the music is interesting, but how it sounds is just as important as what the sound is, right? I guess it's the fm synth that I don't care for.

    1. Mike, FM syth is an acquired taste, but that's what makes it so awesome to me. Let me ask you, is it just Genesis synth or all synth you don't like?

    2. Above all, regardless of the console, I think the most important thing is the composition -not the sound quality. It's the way the music is structured that makes it good and video gamey. But also, I do like synthesizer sounds. I always have, and over the last year or so, I'm realizing Genesis music sounds really synthy.

    3. I think it's just the treble...it's too much for me. I love synth music, Tomita, Tangerine Dream, etc...I don't know. I can't really explain why it's Genesis music specifically, other than it's some sort of misophonia thing directly related to the way the bass sounds.

      And yes, the composition is far and away the most important thing, I will never disagree with that

    Anonymous - Good question. I would imagine they have something although I doubt it's like NASCAR. Oh and don't knock the PB & Tuna. It's actually not that bad! Now PB & pickles?? I think I will pass.

  4. I can't get enough of that Super Hang-On track. Gonna have to look up more Katsuhiro Hayashi music.

  5. Heads up guys, you forgot to list the NES as Bump 'n' Jump's console of release on the track listing here, and you've got a comma missing between Yasuhisa Watanabe's and Naoto Yagishita's names in the Super Chase Happy Quack listing so their two names together look like one long name.
