Episode 105: Castlevania

Just in time for Halloween, Brent and Rob focus on the Castlevania series.  Spanning about 13 games through the 8-bit and 16-bit era, Brent and Rob seem to concentrate more on the 8-bit stuff.  Subsequently, none of the SNES games made this episode.  It's still good though.  The boys also share stories about scary things and Halloween plans.  Happy Halloween LMH listeners!  Full track listing below.

  1. I had no idea there was a Castlevania Arcade game! Looked it up online. Looks pretty cool! What was played here sounds pretty good too, very Sega Genesisy. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by the Castlevania arcade game, though. I should've suspected there might be one when I discovered very late that there was a Contra arcade game as well.

Good episode, guys! Did you get my voicemails?

  2. Fantastic episode, as always! I think apart from Mad Forest and Clock Tower Fear, this pretty much contains all my favorite songs from the early games in the series. Glad to see Vampire Killer finally on here what with the Terashima surprise and all :)

Before I forget though, I think this post implies that Kenichi Matsubara did most of soundtrack minus Lullaby of the Devils and The Final Battle, which were done by Masahiro Ikariko and T.

      However, that "etc." is unsettling....

  3. Impressed by the fact that so many good Castlevania tracks can be compiled from so many differen games from this era that Super Castlevania didn't need to be included to make the episode good.

    1. True! But it would've been -even better- if it had been included.

    1. I actually did see it today! Jodee (aka "Mrs. St. John") and I are out of town in a small town called Spirit Lake / Okoboji Iowa, and we saw it at the theatre there. With a county-wide population of only 16k, and having those great old world small town downtowns, I was really hoping it'd be one of those old downtown theatres with the big marquees that are so charming...but no, it was just a small "megaplex" (would we call that a "micro-megaplex?")....bummer! But the movie was really good! I totally recommend seeing it!

  6. I used to scratch dj in high school and had a record called Video Game Breaks. On the record was a remixed version of The Silence of the Daylight. Check the link to hear it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd_fsldpgrA -Greg
