Live Event: SALEM Podcast Recording and Dance Party on 9/8/18

The Legacy Music Hour is doing a live podcast recording at the Bit Bar arcade/restaurant/pub in Salem, MA.  The recording (Episode 206) will start promptly at 10:30am on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  It'll take about two hours to record and it will be like a regular episode but with a live audience.  If you live in the area or close to the area, come on out and bring who ever you like, as long as they won't be bored by people listening and talking about video game music (and singing along to video game music).  All ages welcome.  Admission includes access to the all-you-can-eat cereal bar, $10 dollars in arcade tokens, and a raffle entry for prize giveaways including video games, gift cards and more!

Later that night, starting at 8:30pm, Brent Weinbach and Rob F. Switch will DJ video game music from the 8-bit and 16-bit era.  Dancing is encouraged!  No remixes, no covers, no adaptations of non-video game music -just pure, original, dancy music from the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and more!  This is an ALL AGES event and ADMISSION IS FREE!s!.

LMH Mixtape #73: Jazz Music 2

All right, look.  KeyGlyph here.  I've been trying to compose a measured introduction to this mixtape for the usual Legacy Music Hour blog post, and I'm officially giving up.  Jazz Music 2 is just too darn good.  It's dreamy, it's busy, it's romantic, it's introspective; it'll conjure up images of bustling cities one moment and lonely hotel lounges the next.  I can't quite put it into words, but there's some real magic going on in this one.  So please, let this VGM genre tour whisk you away to a place where piano is king, everyone knows the Fox Trot, and life seems to glitter just a tiny bit more than you're used to.

KEYGLYPH'S AWARDS & COMMENDATIONS, JUST BECAUSE

Instant new favorite: Zero4 Champ - Seaside Memories
Other instant new favorite: Earthbound - Venus Live!
Brewed new favorite: Bahamut Lagoon - Menu
Honorable Mentions:  Everything else?!

Most hopeful for a Brent Weinbach piano cover of:  Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shogun Magginesu - The End?

Episode 202: TurboGrafx-16 3

Yet another TurboGrafx-16 focus, although it’s mostly all PC Engine tracks this time.  In this episode, the boizz get cross-wibed, the boizz talk cereal, and Brent shares some special food recipes of his own creation.  NOTE: Rob played the wrong track for Mahjong Gakuen, which was just a variation loop of the beginning of his intended track.  He had become so sleepy by that point that he didn’t notice it wasn’t the track in its entirety.  The full track was added later, which is why the full track doesn’t play while the boizz are talking over it.  Full track listing below.
