  1. Hey guys,

Great episode as usual. I'm the guy who recommended Landstalker. One of my favorite games of all time, but also a great soundtrack.

Thanks for playing it! I've wanted to hear it on the podcast for a while even though I already have mp3s

    1. Just finished listening to the last episode, and I think I should get a nickname. Here are my qualifications:

      1) I noticed that the Snoopy song was actually a Dave Brubeck song on one of the Jazz episodes
      2) I noticed that Brent replayed the Rambo song
      3) I was mentioned in asking if Rob had seen Total Recall yet
      4) I recommended the Landstalker track that was played in this episode

      SUPER FAN

  2. I love the podcast but please never play against each other in a video game ever again. The 20 minutes of bickering was unbearable.

  3. When I asked Rob what hard rock/metal groups he liked, i figured tha since he was wearing a Scorpions shirt he was probably into Iron Maiden. Somewhere In Time is one of th most video gamey albums of the 80s. For a metal band I mean.

And talking Jazz Fusion, Brent ave you heard The Leprechaun by Chick Corea? Or Romantic Warrior? Chick Corea did my favorite fusion stuff. Everybody on those albums in that period was amazing too.

    Dokken. Lol.

    1. Slipnot...they're from here in Des Moines. In fact, most of them still live here. There was one time when a friend of mine was playing with his "goof around" band at a local club (house of bricks), when the lead singer picked a member of the audience at random to ask "and what is your name, little boy?" to which the audience member replied "Corey Taylor." ... Awwwwkward! :-)

  4. Aw cool, you guys got to play Third Strike, one of my favorite games! Seems like it wasn't your cup of tea, though. Which is fine. But I figured at least Rob would've appreciated the references to Pro Wrestling -- Alex = Hulk Hogan and Hugo Andore (from Final Fight!) = Andre the Giant.

That Run Saber track is an example of the kind of game music I really like. The only way you can describe it is "video game music." Sure, it's a mix of jazz fusion and electronic, but it fuses the two with a strong approach to melody only heard from games in the 90's. Add in some light industrial influence, bizarre voice samples, those signature 90's orchestra hits and... BAM! It's pure vgm, and I love it! Gotta check out the soundtrack, now.

It's also nice to see some Kirby on the show. I feel like Ishikawa and Ando are kind of underrated compared to some of their contemporaries. Anyway, Dream Land 3 is definitely a game that won't disappoint. Good luck finding it for a reasonable price!

  6. Great episode guys. I know that I'm not the only one who would love to see a video of you two playing Street Fighter 2! Also, Rob you should check out a band called The Black Dahlia Murder and their song "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse." It's all about Castlevania 2 and a heavy track! Loved that you mentioned Dokken, too! Great tunes from them and from you guys!

  7. There were a lot of user suggestions in the last few free plays, which got me thinking - it would be cool if you did an episode of all listener-requested tracks. You would have to announce it during a few episodes, take requests as comments and emails, and choose tracks from those requests. It would be cool to see what you think of our requests!
