  1. Love that Lightening Force track. That bass guitar, or whatever that is near the end of the funky breakdown, is just the best.

I can only hope that one day I, too, will be Tetris ready.

  4. Hilarious episode! I can't wait for the video of your quarter-leaving antics.

Thanks for listening to our little podcast! I told Keyglyph to check out this episode, but she hasn't gotten back to me, probably because her head exploded.

It's been so fun doing the VGM Jukebox, and of course, it wouldn't be possible without this one, as well as the recommendations we get from LMH listeners. My gratitude goes out to the Boizzz and the whole Chiki Chiki family!

      Kenny, is this Shoryukenny?

    4. You know what, I just remembered. Kenny is Kenny, Ken is Shoryukenny. NM.

  5. My head didn't explode, but I will admit I got a bit of a contact high off the Metroid II feature.

You know what one of my favorite parts of LMH 2.0 is? Hearing The Gabe or Atari ST bust up in the background over something. It's rare, but when it happens it makes an ultra-funny moment even funnier.

Also, Brent, in the next episode can you explain what was so cool about your grandma's house? You've mentioned that certain tracks remind you of her place a few times. I'm so weirdly curious.

Also also, I SO want to hear Andy's hypothetical video game music. Andy, if you're out there, is any available on the internet to listen to?

    1. You bet! I'm thinking of this page as the beta for when I start submitting to indies. Some things will change by January. Thanks for wanting to check it out! Hope you hear some of the old ways I feel I was trained in.

  6. Re: Contra. "Makes you wanna run for the border *and chill* at the same time" is the line of the show. Up there with Rob's recent "…smoked him" --!

  7. Re Hecate's pronunciation: I was trying to think of a word that had the same stress pattern and vowel sounds as Hecate, and then Brent used the word "ecstasy," and I realized that was perfect. Hecka-T.

Andy's message made me think of this idea I've had as a one-off theme for you: have you guys ever thought of doing a Beyond 16-Bit episode that consisted of music that's still 8- or 16-bit (or sounds like it), even perhaps non-game music? The way I imagine it, Rob could play the Game Boy Color tunes that have been vetoed in the past, Mega Man 9 and 10 could get some LMH attention, and hypothetical VGM and chiptunes could be included too! (And if you do this, can you request user submissions? I've got a shorty I made on Little Sound DJ that I think would be good "character select" music!)

    1. It's not a made-up word but the real Greek goddess Hecate. Heh-ka-tay.

  8. Thank you for sharing my story guys, and Rob, if I remember correctly (and if NBA Jam saves, which I forget), all characters should be unlocked on that NBA Jam. Supreme Court takes some getting used to, but I loved that game once I got my hands around it.

  9. The sound quality on this episode is out of this world. I always love listening to LMH after hearing other less good sounding podcasts. Brent's voice is so low and soothing.

  10. Is Kim Songdong the first non-Western, non-Japanese composer featured on LMH? (At least among credited composers, anyway; I imagine that bootleg Lion King sequel Rob once played a track from might have had an uncredited Chinese composer.)

  11. Hey guys, love the show- I've listened to every single episode! I just played Undertale (which is heavily inspired by Earthbound) and I think it might be one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. Would you guys do an episode of "modern" 8 and 16-bit music? There are some great games out there inspired by classic soundtracks, many even including some of the top composers from back in the 80s and 90s! If you did, you could include Undertale, Megaman 9 and 10, Shovel Knight, and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World to name a few.

  12. The quarter story just too much. Picturing Rob placing his quarter on an ATM monitor bezel just cracks me up. How did he keep from getting punched in the face?

  13. Hello all this is the best podcast ever! The sense of humor of Brent and Rob along with the great music make it a win win. Keep it up guys!!!

  14. FYI- Looks like Secret of Mana soundtrack remake has been released! Arrangements by Norihiko Hibino (composer of Metal Gear Solid) and AYAKI (pianist from Etrian Odyssey series). Sounds good. -Sick Vic

  16. Metroid 2 main theme reminds me of Revenge of the Nerds part of the movie when they have the talent show and the one nerd has a violin solo or something.
