I was really worried for a week or so. Thanks for keeping the episodes coming!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear someone eating in my ear
ReplyDeleteAre you the same person that just keeps redundantly writing "good" in each mixtape post? How about offering something more constructive next time you decide to comment? Perhaps in the future the moderators of the Legacy Music Hour podcast should consider enabling comments only for people with Blogger accounts...
DeleteAnyway, back to the positivity - this was a fun episode as always boizz! I've got a feeling that Surging Aura track might be one for the Best of Year Review. Hope you get that black mold infection sorted out Brent - I prescribe you two daily dosages of PURE SOUND to get you healed up. And wow, two kindergarten degrees Rob! Can't wait to see a photo of that bad dude once it's framed.
TOU-John
Hey Brent, was the Madou Monogatari track reminding you of Super Bonk's Zero Gravity? Because that's what immediately came to mind for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing about the Madou track -- towards the end, there's a small section that gets directly recycled in the Staff Roll of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. It's just slowed down in the latter and uses different sound sets.
I'm really fascinated with how the tracks and musical slices get passed around among the Madou Monogatari, Puyo Puyo, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I mean, all of the games are obviously related as spin-offs or ports of each other, so you'd expect tracks to get duplicated to some extent. But this particular example is extra intriguing because it's not a whole piece or even a major melody that's getting reused for self-reference, but rather a relatively inconspicuous amp-up at the end of a loop.
Hey Brent and Keyglyph!
DeleteGood call on that! This is my first time commenting and I also came to ask about that. Ever since hearing it I wondered if he was thinking of the intro to Tetris Attack. That's what came to mind for me, but I'm a huge Tetris Attack fan. 14 seconds in on this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHshZtfeBns
Thanks for answering my questions, guys! Spawned-cast coming soon!

The beginning of the Madou Monogatari track strongly reminds be of the beginning of Megaman 2's Woodman's theme.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many years I've been listening to you bois! I remember happening upon you through nerdist. From the first ep I was hooked. I still go back to that one, as well as all the others. Love the topics and banter, love the music, love the banter between the music. Hope you can keep going!
ReplyDeleteAnd, for Sep or Oct, might I suggest a topic ? To commemorate the sega genesis/mega drive mini release in Sep , how about you curate some songs from its game library? And you can include all versions to cover those games exclusive to JP or UK.Either way, I'll be sure to tune to the next show
