Episode 34: Latin Music

Rob comes back from Brazil, which is appropriate because in this episode, Brent and Rob focus on Latin and Latin influenced music from 8-bit and 16-bit video games.  Whistles, cuica drums, funky bass lines -all this and more on The Lambada Music Hour.  Full track listing below.

  1. Another great (almost entirely) Latin flavored game soundtrack is Sunsoft's Super Fantasy Zone. Probably some of the best use of the Genesis/Mega Drive's FM synthesis.

  2. @Z_MET Yep.

Even the Picnic stage theme was remixed by Jun Senoue in Sonic 3D Blast for the Genesis (the Bonus/Special stage).

  3. Guys, just curious, how many soundtrack files do you listen to when preparing for an episode?

  4. Z_MET: I listen to about 20, I think. There are occasions when I find tracks for future episodes and flag them so the number may be less depending on the episode. 20 sounds about right though. Of course, I am not counting the tracks I listen to at work for my own leisure.

  5. Way late note from the Corrections Department: The black chocobo theme from Final Fantasy IV is "Samba de Chocobo". "Mambo de Chocobo" is the black chocobo theme from Final Fantasy V.

  6. Road Rash 3 track Brazil's bass line is very similar to a Jaco Pastorius song Kuru/Speak like a Child. Greg
