LMH Mixtape #298: Racing Games 5

There are so many great racing game tracks out there that it necessitated a fifth focus on the genre.  There's no denying the feeling that a racing game soundtrack can inspire.  One moment can have you on the edge of your seat, sweating out a tough competition, struggling to take first place.  Then, you can suddenly feel like you're cruising down the city streets at night with the top down.  Cruchy electric guitars and super smooth synths are a couple features you can expect with these tracks.  With this episode, you'll get classics like Big Blue from F-Zero, and hidden gems like "British GP ~ Australian GP" from Nakajima Satoru Kanshuu F-1 Grand Prix.  So strap in, buckle up, and hold on tight as we speed directly into this hot new mixtape!

Episode 298: Racing Games 5

Sixteen years ago, Brent and Rob did their first racing games focus, and they talk about that a bit on this latest episode and even try to recreate the episode photo from Episode 2 in the photo below.  Brent also talks about some car trouble he's had recently, which is fitting.  Some really great tracks on this installment, so buckle up!  Full track listing below.

LMH Mixtape #247: Racing Games 4

For Episode 247, instead of the usual free play, the boizz returned to a classic topic: Racing Games.  This was their fourth lap around the course for this topic, proving there's still plenty of gas left in the tank when it comes to racing games.

We start out with some classic Famicom tracks from Vs. Excitebike and Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race.  We then move on to the Super Famicom with the smooth jam "VS Race 1" from Kat's Run: Zen Nihon K Car Senshuken.  If you're looking for some great elevator style tracks, "Race Result" from Suzuka 8 Hours and "Result" from Redline: F-1 Racer both deliver those smooth jazzy sounds that we can't get enough of.  Finally, we finish the race strong with an absolutely bonk jam "Like The Wind (B COURSE)" from the Sega arcade game Power Drift.  This time, instead of putting your feet up, it's time to put the pedal to the metal and race straight into this week's mixtape!

Episode 247: Racing Games 4

It's been a while since the Legacy Music Hour did a theme focus but here we are with an all racing games episode.  NOTE: Rob's Famicom Grand Prix track was kind of wrong.  During the original recording, the track he played was a sort of combined version of two different tracks from the game, which sounded like one.  When it was discovered that the track wasn't supposed to be like that, it was replaced during the editing with the two separate tracks played back to back, but during the talking, you'll still hear that combined version and comments made about it as if it were one track, in case that's confusing.  Full track listing below.

LMH Mixtape #133: Racing Games 3

Episode 133 was the Legacy Music Hour's third lap through racing game music, and it proved without doubt that no matter how many times we return to the track, we're all gonna be winners.  The original episode may have stirred up some controversy when some of Rob's picks were denied admittance for being from horse racing games, but that just meant the boizz would inevitably visit that racetrack at a later date.  Until we get there, jump into (or onto) your favorite motor vehicle and let this mixtape go Bahamas on you.
